Understanding Highbridge: A Community We Serve
Highbridge is a vibrant neighborhood in the southwestern Bronx, New York City, known for its rich history and cultural diversity. The area is named after the High Bridge, New York City’s oldest standing bridge, which connects the Bronx to Manhattan over the Harlem River. This historic landmark represents the strength and connection within the community – values that we at NY Pain Solutions strive to embody in our patient care.
The neighborhood’s geographical location offers unique challenges and opportunities for those dealing with chronic pain. The urban setting means that many residents engage in repetitive motions or labor-intensive jobs that can lead to conditions such as elbow pain, lower back pain, and knee pain. Additionally, the prevalence of osteoarthritis of the hip and hip bursitis among the aging population in Highbridge reflects a need for specialized care in musculoskeletal disorders.
Our Comprehensive Approach to Pain Management
NY Pain Solutions offers a wide range of services designed to address various types of pain. Whether you’re suffering from chronic pelvic pain, abdominal pain, tailbone pain, or sympathetic mediated pain such as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), our team is equipped with the knowledge and technology to help.
We specialize in treating all areas of the spine – cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine – as well as other joints including shoulder joints, hip joints, hand and wrist joints, and foot and ankle joints. Our treatments range from conservative approaches like physical therapy and painkiller medications to advanced interventional procedures like stellate ganglion block, lumbar sympathetic block, ganglion impar block, and spinal cord stimulators.
Innovative Treatments Tailored for Highbridge Residents
For those seeking alternatives to traditional treatments or looking to enhance their recovery process, we offer regenerative medicine options such as trigger point injections with platelets rich plasma. We also provide cutting-edge procedures like Vertiflex for lumbar spinal stenosis relief, RACZ caudal neurolysis for scar tissue removal around nerve roots, percutaneous discectomy for herniated discs treatment without open surgery, kyphoplasty for vertebral compression fractures repair, and more.
Our practice also recognizes the growing interest in medical marijuana for certain types of chronic pain conditions. We provide guidance on this treatment option while ensuring compliance with New York State regulations.
Advanced Diagnostic Tools at Your Service
Accurate diagnosis is key to effective treatment. At NY Pain Solutions serving patients in Highbridge, we utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as EMG/NCS (electromyography/nerve conduction studies) to pinpoint issues like sciatica, radiculopathy (nerve root irritation), peripheral neuropathy including diabetic neuropathy, and fat pad atrophy of the foot.
Our facility is equipped with ultrasound technology for guided trigger point injections and tendon injections ensuring precision in delivering medication directly to the affected area.

What Our Customers Say
I come here with some neck and back issues for Pain management. The wait room is very small so they only sit patients in the main area. The family is expected to sit in another area. The wait time is so long for injections. Be prepared to spend most of your day there on an empty stomach. Dr Sekhar is the best. He consults you and answers any concerns you may have. After the procedure, they give you little juices. After sitting for awhile the doctor comes and evaluates your pain to see if the injection worked. You make your follow up appointment and you're done.

I saw Dr.Kogan at Pain Solutions for my spinal stenosis. He administered epidurals with anesthesia, so Dr. Sekhar had to work on that which meant I had 2 md's billing. Oddly enough, when I received the same epidural from Dr. Kogan at his other location (NYU Langone - Forest Hills) where Dr. Sekhar did not practice, Dr. Kogan administered the epidural by himself without the use of anesthesia. There were no problem, and since there was no anesthesia to recover from, I was free to leave right away. I submitted my insurance information but they did not bother to get clearance. It turns out my insurance was only accepted at the NYU-Langone location. But I never received a bill.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
- What qualifications should I look for in an interventional pain management doctor?
- FAQ Answer: Look for a board-certified interventional pain management specialist with experience in treating your specific type of pain. They should have completed a residency in pain medicine, anesthesia, or neurology, followed by a fellowship in pain management. Additionally, check for state licensure and consider their approach to patient care, including the use of multidisciplinary treatment plans.
- How does an interventional pain management doctor differ from other pain specialists?
- FAQ Answer: An interventional pain management doctor uses minimally invasive techniques such as nerve blocks, steroid injections, and advanced procedures like spinal cord stimulation to treat pain. Unlike other specialists who may focus on medication management or physical therapy, interventional specialists are trained to perform procedures that directly target the source of pain.
- What conditions do interventional pain management doctors treat?
- FAQ Answer: These specialists treat a variety of conditions, including chronic back and neck pain, sciatica, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), neuropathic pain, and more. They often treat patients for whom conservative treatments have failed to provide adequate relief.
- What should I expect during my first visit to an interventional pain management practice?
- FAQ Answer: During your first visit, the doctor will review your medical history, perform a physical examination, and may order diagnostic tests such as MRIs or X-rays. They will discuss your pain symptoms, previous treatments, and how the pain affects your daily life. Then, they will outline a personalized treatment plan.
- How do I prepare for a procedure with an interventional pain management doctor?
- FAQ Answer: Preparation may include fasting for a certain period before the procedure, temporarily stopping certain medications, and arranging for transportation home. Your doctor will provide specific instructions based on the procedure you're undergoing. Always inform your doctor of all medications and supplements you're taking.
- Will my insurance cover visits to an interventional pain management doctor?
- FAQ Answer: Many insurance plans cover interventional pain management treatments, but coverage varies depending on the specific procedure and your insurance policy. Prior to your visit, check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage, and confirm with the pain management practice if they accept your insurance.
