About Shoulder Pain

The shoulder joint is a highly mobile ball and socket joint in the upper extremity.

It is composed of a union between the scapula and the humerus (the upper arm bone). This forms the beginning of the connection of the upper limb to the main body or trunk.

Because it is one of the most mobile joints in the human body, it is susceptible to a unique set of injuries such as arthritis, inflammation along the bursa, tendon injuries, ligament injuries and specifically dislocation injuries.

The high mobility of the shoulder joint means a very large ball (humerus) to a very small socket (scapula)
