Our practice is nestled in the heart of Brooklyn, a borough known for its rich history and vibrant communities. Ocean Parkway itself is a historic thoroughfare that stretches from Prospect Park to Brighton Beach. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in the 1870s, it was one of the first boulevards in America to have a dedicated bike path. Today, it remains a bustling artery that connects diverse neighborhoods and is lined with stately trees and Victorian homes.
Serving patients in this area means understanding the unique lifestyles and needs of those who live here. Whether you’re a cyclist who frequents the parkway’s bike path or someone who enjoys leisurely walks along its scenic routes, we recognize that elbow pain or hip pain can severely limit your activities.
Our approach to pain management is rooted in precision diagnosis and personalized treatment plans. We utilize progressive diagnostic techniques to assess conditions such as osteoarthritis of the hip, hip bursitis, sympathetic pain, pelvic pain, abdominal pain, tailbone pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, neck pain, hand and wrist pain, lower back pain, and various spine-related issues including cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine disorders as well as sacrum and coccyx problems.
We also specialize in treating musculoskeletal issues affecting shoulder joints, hip joints, hand and wrist areas, foot and ankle joints. Our expertise extends to sympathetic mediated pain where treatments like Stellate Ganglion Block or Lumbar Sympathetic Block can be life-changing.
For those seeking alternatives to traditional painkiller medications or invasive surgeries, we offer cutting-edge options like medical marijuana consultations and regenerative medicine techniques including Trigger Point Injections With Platelets Rich Plasma.
Our suite of interventional procedures includes Ultrasound-Guided Trigger Point Injections for muscle knots; Ultrasound-Guided Tendon Injections for tendinitis; Vertiflex procedures for lumbar spinal stenosis; RACZ Caudal Neurolysis for scar tissue around nerves; Percutaneous Discectomy for herniated discs; Spinal cord stimulator implantation for chronic nerve pain; Lumbar Endoscopic Discectomy for disc herniations; Kyphoplasty for spinal fractures; as well as comprehensive treatments for sciatica, low back pain, radiculopathy (nerve root irritation), peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage), diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage due to diabetes), fat pad atrophy of the foot (loss of natural cushioning underfoot), epidurals (for back or leg pain), facet injections (for joint-related spine pain), radiofrequency ablations (to reduce nerve transmission of pain signals), sacroiliac injections (for lower back or leg pain), peripheral nerve stimulator implants (for chronic nerve-related pain) and EMG/NCS studies (Electromyography/Nerve Conduction Studies) to diagnose muscle/nerve disorders.
Our commitment to serving patients in Ocean Parkway extends beyond our clinic walls. We are actively engaged with the community’s health by participating in local events and providing educational resources about managing chronic conditions.

What Our Customers Say

I come here with some neck and back issues for Pain management. The wait room is very small so they only sit patients in the main area. The family is expected to sit in another area. The wait time is so long for injections. Be prepared to spend most of your day there on an empty stomach. Dr Sekhar is the best. He consults you and answers any concerns you may have. After the procedure, they give you little juices. After sitting for awhile the doctor comes and evaluates your pain to see if the injection worked. You make your follow up appointment and you're done.

I saw Dr.Kogan at Pain Solutions for my spinal stenosis. He administered epidurals with anesthesia, so Dr. Sekhar had to work on that which meant I had 2 md's billing. Oddly enough, when I received the same epidural from Dr. Kogan at his other location (NYU Langone - Forest Hills) where Dr. Sekhar did not practice, Dr. Kogan administered the epidural by himself without the use of anesthesia. There were no problem, and since there was no anesthesia to recover from, I was free to leave right away. I submitted my insurance information but they did not bother to get clearance. It turns out my insurance was only accepted at the NYU-Langone location. But I never received a bill.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

What qualifications should I look for in an interventional pain management doctor?
FAQ Answer: Look for a board-certified interventional pain management specialist with experience in treating your specific type of pain. They should have completed a residency in pain medicine, anesthesia, or neurology, followed by a fellowship in pain management. Additionally, check for state licensure and consider their approach to patient care, including the use of multidisciplinary treatment plans.
How does an interventional pain management doctor differ from other pain specialists?
FAQ Answer: An interventional pain management doctor uses minimally invasive techniques such as nerve blocks, steroid injections, and advanced procedures like spinal cord stimulation to treat pain. Unlike other specialists who may focus on medication management or physical therapy, interventional specialists are trained to perform procedures that directly target the source of pain.
What conditions do interventional pain management doctors treat?
FAQ Answer: These specialists treat a variety of conditions, including chronic back and neck pain, sciatica, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), neuropathic pain, and more. They often treat patients for whom conservative treatments have failed to provide adequate relief.
What should I expect during my first visit to an interventional pain management practice?
FAQ Answer: During your first visit, the doctor will review your medical history, perform a physical examination, and may order diagnostic tests such as MRIs or X-rays. They will discuss your pain symptoms, previous treatments, and how the pain affects your daily life. Then, they will outline a personalized treatment plan.
How do I prepare for a procedure with an interventional pain management doctor?
FAQ Answer: Preparation may include fasting for a certain period before the procedure, temporarily stopping certain medications, and arranging for transportation home. Your doctor will provide specific instructions based on the procedure you're undergoing. Always inform your doctor of all medications and supplements you're taking.
Will my insurance cover visits to an interventional pain management doctor?
FAQ Answer: Many insurance plans cover interventional pain management treatments, but coverage varies depending on the specific procedure and your insurance policy. Prior to your visit, check with your insurance provider to understand your coverage, and confirm with the pain management practice if they accept your insurance.
